For a young girl in her twenties, what Cognizant presented 17 years ago is not just a career – it was hope, dreams, confidence, strength, support, direction and a life changing transformation – in short it was a lot more than what can be measured or valued. Today as I look back, the entire journey comes as a time-lapse in my mind – the joining days in the winter of Dec-2005 at Chennai Cognizant, the training days at Siruseri, the TCO, the Tidel Park, eBay my first account, the decisive transfer from Chennai to Kochi in Jun-2007 (as the second associate of DataWarehouse team only after Mahesh Potty), the GTA-UK, Volkswagen and finally closing it with AbbVie.
In this entire journey I had opportunity to work with truly inspiring leaders – Satish Kumar Pradhan, Srini Krishnan, Pramod Muralidharan, Seema Gopal, Paul Mohan and many more – all core techies, lazer sharp in their analysis, communication, observations and above all continuous learners! – beyond all I observed a common trait in all of them – the crystal clear clarity in whatever they do even in situations we found as vague and blurry! I take all those lessons I felt fascinated about (though difficult to apply) just in case I could explain it to my kids! I take this moment to thank my Abbvie leads Shanmugarayan and Simon Arokiaraj for their undiluted support!
It is the team and friends which make our IT life complete – this particular list is endless which will stay with me and which I will keep with myself! And today as I step out for a final time from Cognizant after almost 18 years (6378 fascinating days to be exact) of endless experience and cherished memories, I take with me a few little things which I always feel proud about – All these years, never even once I thought to move out of Cognizant to another company. I never felt to push for designations beyond my potential (I am happy my transformation as PT-P-PA-A culminated as SA!) and finally I never ever complained or argued in my entire career for my ratings – as I said before, the place of Cognizant in my mind is beyond all these numbers, ratings and the pay checks.
Now as I humbly step down to do justice to my family obligations as a mother, I hope Cognizant will be nurturing yet another girl somewhere in place of me for her life changing transformation!
